SF small business owner says Macy's mistake will cost her this holiday season
3+ hour, 14+ min ago (541+ words) A San Francisco small business owner is calling a costly mistake by a major retailer a nightmare. Gia Vang reports. Elenor Mak is the founder of Jilly Bing, a brand of Asian American dolls and toys. The mom of two started it because of the lack of representation while searching for a doll for her own daughter. Soon after launching her business in 2023, her dolls were in major stores like Macy's. "It felt like things were great and then, very quickly over the last few weeks things have just become a nightmare for us as we approach the holidays," Mak said. She said that began when she and Macy's were deciding what to do with some of the store's inventory of her Jilly Bing dolls. In an October email, a Macy's representative writes " the best course of action would be…...

6+ hour, 13+ min ago (733+ words) By Zoe Tillman and Jaewon Kang, Bloomberg Costco Wholesale Corp. joined a fast-growing list of businesses suing the Trump administration to ensure eligibility for refunds if the US Supreme Court strikes down the president's signature global tariffs policy. The nation's biggest warehouse club chain is among dozens of companies to file lawsuits in a US trade court since late October challenging President Donald Trump's use of an economic emergency powers law to impose the levies, according to court records. It's one of the biggest corporate players to jump into a fight largely driven this year by small businesses and Democratic state officials. The Supreme Court heard arguments on Trump's tariffs on Nov. 5. The justices put the fight on a fast-tracked schedule but didn't say when they intend to rule. In the meantime, businesses of all sizes have brought cases pressing…...
One of last Fabergé eggs in private hands fetches $30.2 million at auction
6+ hour, 38+ min ago (736+ words) (CNN) " One of the last Faberg" eggs in private hands sold Tuesday for "22.9 million ($30.2 million), with fees," breaking its own record as the most expensive work by the Russian jeweler ever to appear at auction. Commissioned by Tsar Nicholas II as a gift for his mother in 1913, the Winter Egg went to an unidentified buyer following a 3-minute bidding battle at Christie's auction house in London. The record sum exceeded Christie's pre-sale estimate of "20 million ($26 million). The astronomical price tag reflects the growing rarity of the House of Faberg's Imperial Eggs, none of which has been seen at auction in over 23 years. The historic St. Petersburg jewelry house only ever made 50 of them, and the Winter Egg is one of just seven left in private hands. The others are either missing or owned by institutions or museums. The bejeweled eggs…...
